WOW, that's the best bag I've seen out of Bastrop..maybe the best bag I've ever seen. Anyone know what the five fish record is regardless of whether or not they were taken in a tournament? I'd imagine that this one has to be close! Nice Job!
I went out once from 4 - 1 and caught most of my fish between 8 and 12. I've had a hard time getting a bite before 5:30 out there despite trying all the angles.

This tourney will definitely be a scramble to catch your limit when the fish are biting. Gotta be at the right place at the right time IMHO. Who knows how it will turn out. I've been setting on a skunk then nailed a limit in 45 minutes...its that fickle. Its anybodys game to win so don't count anyone out till the fat director sings
IMHO, 5 fish by 945a will win it all _________________ red boats don't show blood |

| I don't drive myself crazy on what color I'm using. I think if you are fishing in the right place and with the right pattern you can throw your shoe out there an they will hit it. The color I used yesterday was WR.... |

The bite is going to be tough during dark hours...
I experienced the same as most, the bite really didn't turn on till about 9am
What to do before then? maybe take a nap? _________________ The fish are here...I can smell them.. |

I've had a decent bite at night and I know others that do well too...the trick is to be adaptable. The fish act differently at night but are aggressive. You HAVE to be silent and keep the lights off the water because they spook EZ. _________________ red boats don't show blood |

| I fished last Sunday from 4 am untill 7 am. Had around eight fish as the sun was peaking over the trees. I've actually had better success before the sun comes up there. It just shuts down for me as it gets sunny. I gues it's all about what you're throwing. Good luck everyone. |

| Had to fish Bastrop one more time. Fished from 7:00 pm untill 11:58 pm. The fishing got better as it got darker and the moon finally came out. Best five were all pushing 20 inchs but not over. I'll be draggin at work today. What was working? Not telling at this point. Sorry David, but there are too many good anglers coming this weekend that don't need any help from me. |

location: N. Shore
weather: rain
temperature: 70
water temperature 88
visibility: 3 feet
Fishing in the rain is one of my favorite ways to spend time. Knowing that rain was in the forecast I headed out to Bastrop yesterday. Left at 4am and forgot my rain gear. Radar looked like the storm was going around Bastrop and despite not being able to see the sky I launched. It was still dark at 6:45, checked the radar again and the red stuff was right over the lake, lightning started in and so did I. Flipped my boat upside down on the shore and caught an hour nap in the truck while the worst of the shower passed over.
The rain was light at 8 so I took off again and fished from 8 - 12 and scraped together a limit with 4 unders and one catfish on a top water. Lost one that looked to be in the neighborhood of 5 pounds right at the boat. I was experimenting with a new rod (7ft carrot stick EHF) which cost me 4 fish, ended up being way too stiff for topwater, especially with the slower reel I had on it. I'd set the hook, the rod would unload and I had a bunch of slack like.
Caught 3 on a dark green hollow body frog over grass and two on a strike king premier spinnerbait. I had the frog six feet from the boat and stopped it to take a drink of my Dr. Pepper, as it sat there I watched the cat below fly up from the depths and engulf it. He put up a better fight than all of the bass. No cooler so he went back after a picture.
All in all a good time, even though I didn't get as much time on the water as I wanted, but that always seems to be the case. :)
